Ron Levy Shoots Cloud Forest Destruction In Central Mexico

June 20, 2013

By Barbara Goldman

Adventure, outdoors and environmental editorial and commercial photographer Ron Levy, based in Anchorage, Alaska, is currently working with local citizens in a Mexican pueblo. Over 900 trees have been razed by a local developer in violation of Mexican laws protecting drinking water and tree cutting in a conservation area. This is a sensitive cultural and ecological issue, as most people in these small towns are not assertive and have no money to fight. A local ecology group has formed, with only three concerned members, but they have gathered 700+ signatures from citizens to fight for conservation. Levy will be soliciting help from U.S.- based NGOs and others to work on this project and would like to hear from anyone interested or available to help with any similar experience in Mexico.  See more of Levy’s Compassion and Conflict series with animals, people, the Earth and Spirit on his site,
