Bil Zelman and His Award Winning #theRanchRocks Campaign

What was so unique about this project was that we held no castings, no motorhomes, no hair, make-up or wardrobe. It just took some good planning with the agency and a solid walkthrough.
For the setup, we staged a scene and planned real social events, including a small gardening area and a culdesac party. We had food and a band and strung up lights and I just pointed my camera where the good stuff was. I used my big, loud personality to bring out the best in this “never-been-in-front-of-a-camera-before” crowd.
The campaign was shot for a southern California developer. The loose concept was to visualize “#theRanchRocks” and to show off how special the relationships are at Rancho Mission Viejo.
These images swept the awards with three gold awards (Best Overall Advertising Campaign, Best Social Media Campaign, Best Marketing Campaign) and two silvers (Best Email and best Rich Media Advertising Campaign) at 2018 National Sales and Marketing Awards.
